Brilliant Brooke WSS Blitz as Tatnell takes his sixth crown.

Last weekend the Wanless World Series Sprintcars hit the Brisbane International Speedway for the series final and Brooke’s Toyota Genuine Parts/Maxwill Engines/Cool team were holding a slim point’s lead and planning to score the championship crown.

Playing it safe Brooke had to look at the big picture and after settling into a solid fifth in the championship 50 lap final Brooke powered to the checker taking out his sixth World Series title and his second racing for the Krikke Motorsports team

Team owner Shane Krikke said after winning the WSS title “it will be great to start chasing wins instead of looking to built up points. We’ve been leading most of the championship and it’s been very competitive this season and with the points if you have a DNF in just one round you’re really behind. I’m very pleased with our program I think we have been the only team to finish every round. The new Cool Chassis has been working really well but with the World Series over its now time to start picking up some feature race victories.”

Brooke was certainly in the hunt all last weekend and what was a very wet race track on Friday night the Brisbane track was virtually a one lane deal. In qualifying Brooke set ninth best time and moved forward in both his heats picking up a fifth and a third. In the preliminary A Main it was a follow the leader with Brooke’s Australia One Cool starting seventh and finishing seventh retaining his slight points advantage in the 2007/8 WSS points tally.

Last Saturday night and only a single heat before the dashes and then the main races, the track was certainly different from the wet and heavy Friday night track conditions. Brooke powered from starting back in position eight in his heat forging up into 4th and finishing ahead of World of Outlaws champ Donny Schatz. In the dash Brooke finished where he started in position 4 giving him position 7 start in the 50 lap final. Brooke had to keep calm and with Robbie Farr flipping over early and the other championship contender Max Dumesny starting back in the field, Brooke just had to hold position picking the points and the WSS crown. He had powered into fifth and at times could have moved into third but deciding the championship was the main aim, Brooke stayed holding position five to take out a brilliant WSS 2007/8 victory.

The guys head to Sydney and Brooke’s home track for the three night Outlaws Downunder V meeting and with Brooke and the Toyota Genuine Parts/Maxwill/Cool team running in top form chasing wins it should be a great meeting for the Australia One crew.
