Krikke Motorsport is very Cool on the WWSS Western Swings Rounds!

Krikke Motorsport opened up its season campaign with 3 rounds of the Wanless World Series Sprintcars in Perth Western Australia at the Perth Motorplex & Kalgoorlie International Speedways, it was a huge weekend for the Toyota Genuine Parts/Cool/Maxwill finishing on the podium 3 out of 3 and leaving WA with the points lead.

The week opened up on the Thursday with a media day at the Perth Motorplex which was very well attended by all speedway & non MotorSport personnel. The KMS Toyota Genuine Parts/Cool/Maxwill received great coverage in the Perth media as well as world wide internet traffic throughout a range of Speedway & Motorsport websites. This continued on Thursday in the gold mining town of Kalgoorlie where Krikke Motorsport was again featured in the Kalgoorlie Miner newspaper.

Night one of the Wanless World Series Sprintcars opened up with a bang as a huge Perth crowd was in attendance to see Australia’s best Sprintcar pilots lead by Krikke Motorsports Toyota Genuine Parts/Cool/Maxwill Australia #1 of Brooke Tatnell.

The KMS car qualified just outside the top 10 in 11th position and Brooke followed that up with a 1st & a 5th in his two heat races. This would put him in the B Dash where he would come home in 2nd position and securing the KMS Toyota Genuine Parts/Cool/Maxwill a second row start in the A final.

Some of the worlds heaviest hitters were in the A main including world #1 Donny Schatz, WOO Rookie of the year Kerry Madsen, 7 time WWSS champ Max Dumsney, this 30 lap duel was going to be grueling. As the race progressed it was obvious that the Krikke Motorsport machine was on song, slowly making its way to the front to finish on the top step of the podium and a clear winner on night 1 of WWSS.

Speaking with Brooke after the nights proceedings, he had this to say about being back “its like wearing a old pair of shoes, your not comfortable in the new ones so you put your old shoes back on and you feel at home, that’s what its like for me when I get back to Australia and jump straight back into the KMS team car, Shane & I have developed a great friendship over the years and its just like family for me, we (Pete & Shano) work so well together, we all know what the car needs & wants & we work together to achieve this. I want to have the best season for Krikke Motorsport Toyota Genuine Parts/Cool/Maxwill and nothings going to get in our way of what we are after”

Round two/night 2 was also at the Perth Motorplex on a sticking hot November day in Perth and with a track that looked like it was all done and dusted while the sun was still up.

The KMS Toyota Genuine Parts/Cool/Maxwill again timed in 11th position and he followed that up with a 3rd & 6th in the two heat races, starting the B dash in 5th he would come home in 4th and be on the fourth row in the A main final.

This was a race that will be remembered for all the wrong reasons, the racers would have been better suited on the bitumen of Sandown that a dirt track in WA, black, slick, dusty is all spectators saw in this last race but as the race progresses Brooke Tatnell would be closing his way into the top 3 and finish on the podium for the second night running putting the KMS Toyota Genuine Parts/Cool/Maxwill in the WWSS points lead after the two Perth Motorplex rounds.

Night 3 of the WWSS had Pete & Shano hit the road for the first time this summer on the way to Kalgoorlie International Speedway for a Wednesday night show in the gold mining town, a town that is very passionate about their Sprintcar racing!

They arrived in droves for this meet with track officials saying it was one of the best crowds ever for a WWSS event, traditionally Kalgoorlie has hosted the opening event of the series, but this year was a little different with the SPA choosing to open in Perth and have the Kalgoorlie round on the way to Adelaide.

Brooke Tatnell & the KMS Toyota Genuine Parts/Cool/Maxwill team timed in 2nd position & followed that up with a 5th from position from heat one and 3rd position in heat 2. Dash time and they started in dash 1 out of position 1 and won the dash to start the main event on the front row.

Feature time as is tradition at Kalgoorlie a freshly prepared track greeted the teams as they arrived onto the track to tackle the 30 lap journey.

On the front row with Brooke was fellow dash winner Scott Reiley and as the green flag dropped both he & Brooke took of from the remaining runners in the field until lapped traffic when Ryan Farrell, Peter Lack & Dave Murcott were all in a tight group dicing for positions, Lack would then round up Tatnell, Reiley to take the lead and Brooke followed Lack into second position and this is how they would both duel out the remaining 11 laps till the end of the race.

That would complete 3 podiums in 3 events for Krikke Motorsport Toyota Genuine Parts/Cool/Maxwill team.

Team Boss Shane Krikke said after the weekends events “I am very happy with that Brooke has been able to come home slot straight back into the car and be on the pace from the word go, and a great job by Pete & Shano & the boys for the entire three rounds, its great to have the points lead after the western swing and its great for all our sponsors that have joined us again for this tour, The Toyota Genuine Parts/Cool/Maxwill hotrod was on from the start of the weekend and we are looking forward to a full season ahead”

KMS team Driver Brooke Tatnell after the weekends proceedings “night one & two were good but in Kal we weren’t right on our game as we would have like to been, time now to go full steam ahead, rise up in the saddle & attack from the word go. I want to be more dominant from here on and this team has the ability to do this, we missed the set up a little in Kal, the track took rubber and surprised me a little, can’t wait to get to Wendy’s place (Speedway City) and get back into this car, looking forward to the rest of the WWSS”
