Tatnell Chasing A Brisbane Three-peat In Round 5 Of W W S S
Author : Jak

Australian Sprintcar Champion Brooke Tatnell from San Souci NSW heads to Titan Garages Brisbane International Speedway this Saturday night November 24 for Round 5 of the Wanless World Series Sprintcars (WWSS) Championship with the Series lead tucked away, and chasing a "three-peat" of wins at the venue to extend his remarkable run of success in the Sunshine State.

Tatnell won both the final nights of the 2006/07 Series at BIS in January to set-up the possible "three-peat" for this weekend, picking up a cool $20,000 pay cheque for his victory in the inaugural fifty lap Titan Garages Australian Sprintcar Open which doubled as the Series Finale.

No driver has won more WWSS events in Brisbane than Tatnell, his current tally standing at twelve A-Main victories from just thirty-four national tour events held at Archerfield over the twenty-one year history of the Series. When you do the math, that's an astonishing 35% win rate when the toughest sprintcar Series in the country comes to Brisbane! *

To put that in perspective, consider that current World of Outlaws star and 2002/03 Series Champion Daryn Pittman is next in line with four victories and despite his seven Championship crowns, Max Dumesny has tasted World Series success at BIS on only three occasions!

Like Dumesny, both Robbie Farr and Garry Brazier have worn the Australia 1 mantle and both also have just the three WWSS Brisbane wins to their credit. And while a host of American and Australian stars fill out the remaining spots on the Archerfield/BIS win list, including Brooke's dad George, it is clearly the Tatnell name that dominates the stats sheet.

Titan Garages Brisbane International Speedway Promoter John Kelly expects Tatnell to again be tough to beat this weekend.

"There's no doubting Brooke has been one of the best drivers in the country over the past few years, and he has a great team behind him in Krikke Motorsport. It's been a tough year for him with the passing of George but he has come back home from the US this year with some more goals to achieve and he has had a great start to the new Series."

"Brooke has always done well when he races here in Brisbane and he won his second (Australian) Title here two years ago, but in saying that Garry Brazier has been in in outstanding form in Qld this season as well and has won a couple of Features here already. It's going to be a great race between those two, Max, Robbie, Jason Johnson and our top Qld guys on Saturday night. I can't wait for it!"

Qld race fans are in for a treat with Round 5 of the 2007/08 Wanless World Series this weekend the first of three Rounds in Brisbane this season, with the travelling troupe returning in January for the two night Series Finale on January 11/12 and the Series Presentation Dinner on January 13.
