Krikke MotorSport Looking to Go One Better at the Classic
Brooke Tatnell and the Krikke MotorSport Team will be looking to go one better at this year’s 36th running of the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway, after finishing second there last year.
One of the most prestigious races in Australian Speedway, the Classic will be held on Saturday 26 January 2008 and Sunday 27 January 2008. Night one will see Time Trials, followed by two rounds of Heats, a C-Main and B-Main, and the 25-lap Australia/America World Challenge. Night two will see a further two rounds of Heats, a C-Main and B-Main, and the 40-lap Classic A-Main.
Tatnell and the Krikke MotorSport Team were dominant at last year’s Classic, setting quick time, and finishing third in Heat one, before rain saw the remainder of night one postponed to the afternoon of night two. Starting racing early the next afternoon, Tatnell finished second in Heat two, and lined up on the front row for the World Challenge, and took the win.
Tatnell was the highest point scorer on night two, after finishing fourth in Heat one and winning Heat two. The Krikke MotorSport Driver started on pole for the Classic A-Main, and led the majority of the race, before damage to the front wing mounts pierced a hole in the radiator, causing steam to billow out of the Toyota Genuine Parts/Maxwill Motors/Cool machine. Despite the damaged radiator, Tatnell maintained his lead until late in the race, and finished second.
Krikke MotorSport last visited Premier Speedway for the final round of Wanless World Series Sprintcars Speed Week on 1 January 2008. After qualifying through the B-Main, Tatnell started the 35-lap A-Main from 18th and powered his Toyota Genuine Parts/Maxwill Motors/Cool machine through the field to finish fifth.
Tatnell, a two-time Classic winner, is determined to give Krikke MotorSport their first Classic win and claim the $30,000 winner’s pay cheque. Given their current form, including a second-placing at Outlaws Down Under V, the team are confident going into the event that they can take out this year’s Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic.
Krikke MotorSport merchandise is now available on-line or direct from the Team Transporter at each venue.
