Krikke Motorsport leave Brisbane still with the WWSS points lead

Although last Saturday nights round 5 Wanless World Series Sprintcars round at Brisbane International Speedway will go down as a tough night in the office for Brooke Tatnell & the Krikke Motorsport Team, it wasn’t all smooth sailing for the other competitors either.

Facing a track that suffered bad weather all week, and anyone knowing Brisbane knows when it rains all week the Saturday nights race track will be heavy & tough. This meant it was a bad night for most teams competing in the WWSS campaign, allowing Tatnell and the KMS team to increase their points lead as they head into round 6 of the series.

The boys had a good weeks lead up to this event traveling up from Adelaide where they had won round 4 of the WWSS championship. When they arrived in Brisbane a days maintenance and some R&R was all that was on the plan for the remainder of the week.

Arriving at the track the team discovered a few minor mechanical issues after hot laps & time trials so they spent the best part of the night chasing the problems to make the car easier for Brooke to drive. This was to be to no avail as the boys put in a big night searching through the KMS Toyota Genuine Parts/Cool/Maxwill. It wasn’t until the day after when the problem was found to be a bent throttle shaft on the brand new fuel injection unit.

Shane Krikke & Krikke Motorsport would like to thank Ken Mac from KRE Race Engines in Brisbane for his help & support in trying to source the problem with the KMS Toyota Genuine Parts/Cool/Maxwill. His help was invaluable in finding the problem with the damaged throttle linkage; he came highly recommended by Peter Morris from Maxwill Engines and we thank him for that.

Also what can you say about Bill Mann from Performance Wholesale. He was there to offer parts & support to Pete Caporn & Shane Finch while trying to source the problem, and we thank Bill very much from all at KMS.

Results for the night would be as follows, time trial 8th, Heat 1 start 7th finish 4th, Heat 2 start 8th finish 7th, Dash 1 start 4th finish 4th, Feature start 7th finish 7th.

So, as you can see from results, not a customary night for the KMS Toyota Genuine Parts/Cool/Maxwill, but one thing is for sure, this team doesn’t have two bad nights in a row.

Krikke Motorsports next event is Round 6 of Wanless World Series Sprintcars at Parramatta City Raceway.
