Top Ten Finish for Krikke MotorSport at Murray Bridge

Brooke Tatnell and the Krikke MotorSport Team continued their run of top ten finishes with eighth at Murray Bridge Speedway for Round 2 of Speed Week on Thursday 27 December 2007.

The Toyota Genuine Parts/Cool/Maxwill driver qualified seventh with a 12.604-second lap.  He started Heat 1 from the inside of the fifth row, and moved into seventh in the opening laps.  In the closing stages of the race, Tatnell ran the high line and took over sixth, before moving down on the track to make another pass to finish fifth.

The five-time World Series Sprintcars Champion was scheduled to start from tenth in Heat 2, but the outside row was moved forward, which saw the Krikke MotorSport pilot start eighth.  He quickly moved into fifth before a yellow light stoppage early in the race.  Tatnell powered his Toyota Genuine Parts/Cool/Maxwill machine to third before another yellow light stoppage.  He took over second, and staged a late-race battle with the leader, swapping positions, before finishing in the runner-up position.

The three-time and current Australian Champion qualified on pole for the B Dash, and led from the start, opening up a gap over the field and taking the Dash win, to earn himself a front-row starting position for the all-important A-Main.

Tatnell therefore started the 35-lap A-Main from the outside of the front row, and moved straight into the lead.  He opened up a gap over the field before two early caution periods.  The leaders were soon into lapped traffic, and Tatnell was held up by slower cars, which saw him being passed for the lead.  He staged an enthralling battle for second place, before brake issues caused him to spin and restart from the rear.  The Krikke MotorSport driver powered his Toyota Genuine Parts/Cool/Maxwill machine through the field to finish eighth, and maintain his series points lead.

Krikke MotorSport Crew Chief Pete Caporn summed up the night in saying, “We got off to a decent start.  We got lucky with the qualifying time and went out early, which really helped.  We had a good couple of Heat races and won the Dash, so it was all good.  We lost the lead in the Feature, but we were still there.  We’ve just got some brake issues with the car and it’s just locking up and he seemed to spin out.  That’s two nights in a row.  Brooke Tatnell’s not a guy that’s going to stuff up two nights in a row like that, so we’re going to have a look at the car tomorrow and we’ll come back to Mt Gambier a lot better.”

Krikke MotorSport’s next race will be Round 3 of Wanless World Series Sprintcars Speed Week, at Mt Gambier’s Borderline Speedway, on Saturday 29 December 2007.

Krikke Motorsport merchandise is now available on-line or direct from the Team Transporter at each venue.
