Krikke MotorSport and the Boys Show they would rather forget

At an event that is dear to the hearts of all the Krikke MotorSport team nothing seemed to go to plan at the Krikke Boys Shootout for the team and team driver Brooke Tatnell. And unfortunately their first showing at this event as a combination was disappointing and not quite the results that they were looking for.

Night one started with time trials where they qualified the Australia #1 Toyota Genuine Parts/Maxwill/Cool a respectable 5th from a record 43 entrants. This led them to start out of 5th in heat 2 and after a great tassle with Robbie Farr; they passed the chequered flag in third place.

This secured the Krikke Motorsport team a spot in the B Dash starting once again from position 5. The Australia #1 Toyota Genuine Parts/Maxwill/Cool car made an impressive run in the dash to finish in 1st position ahead of Mark Wells and Robbie Farr.

With a front row start and a new found race set-up, the team were looking for a podium finish on their maiden attempt at this event which is now in its 11th year.  But unfortunately as Brooke was leading the race comfortably and trying to round up Greg Hall on the dry track the slower car spun in front leaving him with now where to go but into his path and tipping the Australia #1 Toyota Genuine Parts/Maxwill/Cool car on it’s side and in doing so breaking a steering arm and top wing and forcing Tatnell to spend the rest of the race as a spectator on the infield.

After spending the night at the car wash and the morning at their race shop repairing the damage and replacing the broken components, the team were looking for a better result for night two and hoping to take home the winners cheque of $20,000.

On a dry, dusty track Tatnell ran 2nd in his heat and 4th in the dash to give him a position 7 start in the all important Krikke Boys Shootout A main feature.  But once again, in a near identical incident, Australia #1 Toyota Genuine Parts/Maxwill/Cool was left stranded and out of the race with only a handful of laps completed.

The team now head to Kwinana next weekend to take on local, interstate and international drivers where they’ll try and take home the winners purse at the two night event; the Nanovich ‘‘King of the Wings’’

Krikke MotorSport merchandise is now available on-line or direct from the Team Transporter at each venue.
